This sounds lovely, Alex. Your introduction brief but full of details. I especially love this phrase: "... listen to the quiet trails under trees."

Thank you Stacy, it's always such a joy to me when a line of writing connects, thank you for sharing 💙

This looks fantastic Alex and Suravi and I hope to be there. I have developed a deep affinity and connection to the Iron Age Hill Fort which sits next to my village and purely by being immersed in it, walking and running around it and taking time to sit and ponder it has fostered in me a developing collection of poems inspired and enervated by the energy of such an ancient place. Congratulations to you both for making such a connection together and organising this. 🙏

Oh wow! That’s so beautiful. It calls you home! It would be wonderful to have you at our Live! Really looking forward to it!

Thank you Andrew! I have really enjoyed your poems about that Hill Fort, I love that these ideas of connection to nature and place resonate there as well. I have also felt similarly deep connections to some of the ancient ruins we visited as we sailed around Scotland, there is something about places where people have been present for such unimaginably long times!

Wonderful, Alex. I spent most of my life near the ocean. I cannot imagine life without its beauty. However, the last x amount of years Ive been living among the trees, rivers and streams. I will always return to the ocean. It’s my connection to the world. Lovely piece, thank you for writing.

Thank you Penny! Growing up my connection was really to mountains trees and rivers, and the ocean came in much later for me! I can relate to what you say in reverse in a way, and I'm sure it's something that will be part of Saturday's discussion!

This is exactly what we were chatting about. Something about the ocean calls you “home”, in a manner of speaking. What about the ocean appeals to you more, do you reckon?

Penny's avatar

Essentially, the ocean calms me. Even walking the shore. When my dad was dying it was my only solace. Pacing the shoreline. Embracing the waves against my body. I also happen to love boating. So many boats; all such a wonderful escape.

Wow! That’s an incredible description! You must come to our campfire Live this coming Saturday! It would be very cool to hear your stories too!
