And perhaps the world wants us too, carrying our brief lives through its water, stone and light. We do not merely witness the earth.. for a little while, the earth witnesses itself through us...

Alexander, I love the sheer longing in this. Not simply to see the world, but to somehow become part of its water, rock, earth and endless cycles. Beautiful. X

Thank you that means a lot, it's a deep seated longing I can't quite explain, but I'm glad I could write this! So happy it resonated πŸ’™

Lovely writing. And what an angle to see Cape Wrath from!

Thank you! It was truly a remarkable vantage of the Cape, felt completely surreal!

This is beautiful. I feel this would make a great animated film (like the snow man). Being from Scotland I have had the pleasure of seeing a lot of the country and I agree that it is stunning. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you, that's a wonderful suggestion. I've had some ideas for short children's stories in the past as well, I like the idea of writing it as a shirt animated story! Thank you :)

Thank you for the delightful post, Alexander! I love reading about other people's connection to water, especially if they can express it as eloquently as you can - then it is an even bigger joy to read such tales. My connection to water is very important to me, and I adore swimming. I wish I could go swimming at least once a month, but unfortunately here, in northern Romania, there are not too many places to go swimming.

Thank you Csermely, your generosity really means a lot! πŸ’™ Writing here has made me realise that so many more people than I realised share this deep connection to water. For me it used to be the lakes and rivers of Sweden (still is that too) but the love of the sea has been added to that! Swimming is also something that provides such a sensory immersion in the world for me! But also don't do it nearly enough for some reason!

My pleasure, Alexander! I used to be afraid to put my head under water, but an ex-swim teacher Australian friend of our helped me get over my fear by pushing my head underwater! After that, learning how to swim was much easier. And now I love swimming underwater, it makes me feel like a fish… I adore the silky feel of the water around me, the weightlessness, & the ability to feel like a seal, or an otter. πŸ’™πŸ’™πŸ’™
