There's something rather fitting about a sailboat gathering a crew one reader at a time. Wishing you fair winds, kind waters, and many fellow travellers along the way. X

Thank you so much Claire! I love it, the sailing analogies almost write themselves. It's nice to feel like a large crew, working together here :)

I really resonated with what you wrote - especially: ‘This writing journey is the extension of that exploration, of recovering from burnout, mourning the loss of a dream career, falling back in love with the world by getting closer to nature and myself’. My story is similar in terms of writing, burnout and getting closer to nature.

I have subscribed and I wish you well and look forward to following your journey.

Thank you for sharing that, I'm really glad it resonated, and I find immense respite in knowing I'm not alone in this stage of life. I can't thank you enough for subscribing, I look forward to following your journey as well 💙

The Captains Quarters. Such a great idea.

Why stop the journey? Where’s Kismet now?

Alexander Gunnarsson's avatar

Sorry if I've mislead, the journey continues but more locally. Kismet is in the water in Edinburgh, and I'm sailing her all around the Forth and East Coast! But now the journey is also about the writing :)

Oh good, because sailing is way more fulfilling than academia

It definitely has been for me, I guess it all comes down to the reason for doing it!

I'm one of the new subscribers. Just found you the other day.

I love that named your boat Kismet!

Thank you Tabitha, it means a lot! She was named Kismet when I found her, which seems almost too good to be true! It's the perfect name :)

That's amazing! Sounds like it was meant to be!
